Left work early to pick the caddy up fr the body shop. I was do excited to see my baby looking soo good!!
God isn’t she beautiful!
Ah but a happy reunion this was not to be. She looked good and drove home beautifully. Right till I pulled on to my street. That’s when I smelled it. The unmistakable scent of coolant. Which to any north star owner is enough to give you a heart attack, pre-02 or not!
Pull in the driveway to plumbs of smoke pouring out of my hood. Fearing the worst I shut her off and pop the hood.
Spotted it right away. Phew, just a popped upper radiator hose! One of 4 things I can fix with confidence on a car. Well forty minuets and $37 later
Now to shower and enjoy the rest of my night and dream of driving my newly sexified baby to work tomorrow!

I’m consistently surprised by life’s uncanny ability to throw something new at you as soon as you’ve finished dealing with the last round of BS. But that’s how it works I guess? Props for handling it like a champ! I love these northstar caddys, inside and out. I hope it behaves for a while after this!

seriously, never let your guard down in life. It will find a away to remind you of that as soon as you do. ha Yeah they are great, in their own way. She just need a new power steering pump and then that’s the last of the big needs minus her 100k tune up (sparks, belts, ect..) and she should be good for a while. Which means I can focus on the wants, like some interior and exterior stuff I have left to address. But she just ticked 108k and has lots of pimp’in left to do!

I bet matting it and roasting the front wheels with a V8 is hilarious! How is the torque steer?

It’s most hilarious when I do it rolling at 45 to 50MPH!
Of all the thing this vehicle suffered from, including build quality and ridiculous expensive parts for whats really just a parts bin car, torque steer is not one of them. It’s fairly grace full under power, even when steering, so long as the traction control is not applied. I’d the supercharged Buick regal I had briefly had much worse torque steer, it was very pronounced but all the 4th and 5th gen Sevilles I’ve owned none of them had an issue with it. Even the STS was fairly tame, though much more pronounced than on my SLS.

I know what you mean. I took my car to an oil change place because the drain was on too tight and I didn’t want to strip it. They did the job, then came in to let me know that my transmission fluid was black. Not your typical upcharge scam, but really really black. So I went ahead and had it flushed, turning my $20 job into a $150 one.
That said, it would have cost more to buy a new transmission, so I’m glad it was noticed.

The design of the 4L80e transmission means equal-length halfshafts, thus no torque steer.
